I made these four pieces for a luxury yacht based in New York during Fashion week, September 2025. After conversations with the designers and discussions over exact size and colour suggestions I produced three pieces of Textiles that were 115cm x 86cm and one at 215cm x 86cm. These pieces were to hang as part of the back drop for the Fashion show that would take place on the yacht. Keen to keep within my preferred use of recycled or repurposed materials and sourced real sails and boat fabrics from several chandlers, and ropes from a boating friend. All the pieces were to be individual but connect with each other. These pieces, some are hand- dyed using a Japanese Shibori dye technique and all have been worked into with hand embroidery. I want the viewer to feel as if they are looking through the rigging of a boat, to feel as if they are on board a vessel at sea, looking out onto different moments found in the ocean, from the calm, sublime shallows to the ripples and waves as the sea is moved by the wind.
