The sea has been a central influence on my textile practice throughout 2024 and still now today. As both a life-sustaining force and a fragile ecosystem, it holds a powerful tension between strength and vulnerability that runs through my work.

Using found and discarded marine materials—such as sea glass and fishing line—I create layered textile pieces that reflect this complex relationship. These materials are carefully reworked and transformed, allowing traces of their past to remain visible within the surface.

My work moves between beauty and unease. While the colours and textures echo the calm, immersive qualities of the sea, the materials themselves speak to human impact and environmental neglect. By bringing these elements together, I hope to encourage a deeper awareness of how we value, use, and care for our oceans.

I also hope the work is. joyful, reminds the viewer of looking through a window onto the a seascape, where the. horizons are blurred but beautiful.
